Master Basic Cardiac Emergency Management at Vydehi Advanced Simulation Academy
Brief:
This workshop is designed to provide Nursing and Para-Medical students the ability to recognize several life threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This workshop will also enable the participants to perform several skills in airway management, wound care, vascular access and catheterization required while managing several medical and trauma emergencies.
Objectives:
At the end of two day workshop, the students will be able to;
1) Identify cardiac arrest and perform life-saving skills interventions
2) Perform basic airway management skills while assessing patients with airway emergencies
3) Perform basic skills of vascular access, wound care, tracheostomy care, catheterization, etc.
4) Understand crisis management

Day 1: Invasive and Non-invasive Nursing Skills
- 9 am to 9.15 am: Registration and Pre-test
- 9.15 am to 9.45 am: VIDA visit
- 9.45 am to 11.00 am: Presentation of Basic skills – Basic Airway Management- OPA, NPA, Suctioning, Oxygen supplementation, Nasogastric tubes- Lavage and Gavage, Tracheostomy care, Medication administration- Routes, Male and Female catheterization
- 11.00 am 1.00 pm: Skills practice
- 1 pm to 1.30 pm: Lunch
- 2 pm to 2.30 pm: Skills practice
- 2.30 pm to 3.00 pm: Skills practice
- 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm: Skills practice
- 4.00 pm to 4.15 pm: Post test
Day 2: Basic Cardiac Life Support
- 09:00 am – 09:15 am: Registration & Pre-test
- 09:15 am – 10:30 am: Presentation about BLS and CRM
- 10.30 am to 1 pm: Hands on – BLS ( Choking, BMV , compressions, etc ) & AED on Ares
- 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm: Lunch
- 2 pm to 2.15 pm: Demonstration of MI using Hololens
- 2.15 pm to 3.45 pm: Pediatric & Neonatal resuscitation – hands on skills practice
- 3.45 pm to 4.00 pm: Post Test and Feedback
